Melissa and I used to go drink beer before choir with this anorexic friend of ours.
One day we were drinking and talking about our families and she said “You know how your parents are always trying to get you to eat?”
Melissa and I (both being at least 25 pounds over our desired weight at the time) both started laughing, and said “no”.
I said “My Dad called me “Porky” a couple of weeks ago”. Melissa said that her Dad had recently suggested she NOT eat something.
The messed up part is that while I always assumed she was judging us for being so much bigger than her, she assumed that everyone’s parents thought they had an eating disorder. This was after she started shopping in the children’s section.
