This was not our typical Thanksgiving. We usually take turns every other year either with my Mom’s whole side of the family or at the beach with Gabe’s family and close friends of the family.
This Thanksgiving it was our year to go to Gabe’s parents house, but since we are moving there in about a month, and Gabe doesn’t have much vacation time left at his job, we just stayed home this year. My parents were out of town, so we had Bridgette and family over for Thanksgiving dinner. That sounds pretty simple, until you figure that I met Bridgette when we were both pregnant at a Mother’s of Multiples meeting.
We had four adults, four 18 month olds and one three year old. We had a great time, but it was a little bit chaotic. Gabe made a fantastic Thanksgiving dinner and Bridgette brought brownies shaped like pumpkins (yum yum yum, delicioso!)
Some highlights of the day:
- Both of Bridgette’s twins fell asleep in their highchairs at dinner.
- Gabe had to say “Don’t eat the bears off of your sister’s dress”.
- Scott thought that Louis had a really big bruise on his cheek, but it was just chocolate icing.

Here is Claudia doing her impression of Dennis Hopper in Easy Rider. This is from the scene where he puts his stash in the gas tank of his chopper.

And here we have Ian doing his scene from Flashdance. What a feeling!
Below, you will see Claudia’s impression of a tired little girl. Wait a minute - that’s not an impression.

I’m sure this is not what Gabe had envisioned when he put “Little Headbands” on the grocery list, but this is what he got:

And you can’t give something to the girl and not to the boy.
Speaking of the boy…

The Goon Squad and I went to the grocery store today, just the three of us. It is a little bit complicated to take two one and a half year olds anywhere, but it is something I can do if I am careful and have the double stroller handy. The hard part is getting them from the house to the car, and back from the car and into the house when we get home.
This afternoon, I got Ian out first, he was on the passengers side of the van. I opened up the front door (where my groceries were) and put my purse down and walked around to the other side and started to get Claudia out of her car seat. This is when Ian started climbing into the front seat from the passengers side. Then he climbed through the middle and hopped up in to the drivers seat and started steering. This is reminiscent of Halloween, except he wasn’t dressed as a cow. I hope he just likes driving. I really hope he doesn’t steal cars when he grows up.

I know I’ve been distracted lately, and not blogging as often as normal (causing Beau great boredom and forcing him to resort to playing the game where he puts tupperware on his head instead of reading my blog all day long). I haven’t even mentioned the Bucs 30 - 27 victory over Atlanta on Sunday which gave me great joy.
I’ve been a little bit preoccupied with another project. We are going to be moving at the end of December. I’ve been trying to get this house ready to sell, and also trying to buy a house up in the Washington D.C. area. I don’t remember buying this house being so emotionally draining. Maybe it is because we are going so far this time, maybe it is because our family is twice as big, maybe it is the selling part that is hard, or maybe it is because I am leaving my parents this time.
Anyway - now you all know. Don’t tell Gabe’s current job. I’d hate to get him dooced.
