  1. Brenda says:

But you knew it was just a matter of time before she made it through all the Stephen Kings, right?

Claudia should give my twins a little reading lesson or two. They haven’t even made it through “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” alone yet. And they’re almost 10 months old! Oh well, I guess I’ll let them be slackers for a while longer.

  2. Kemp says:

I agree, Sagan is advanced for someone under 2. Hell, Sagan is advanced for some people over the age of 30. Tell her to try Stephen Hawking.

And The Peanut Butter consistently takes my “Atlantic Monthly” and “The Economist” from the mail pile before I have a chance to grab them. We had to move her bed the other day to get a toy that had fallen under it and, from behind the headboard, out popped an issue of The Economist that I had not even seen. I thought I didn’t receive that weeks’.

    Kids.

  3. Is this thing on? Been trying to comment for 10 minutes. Blogger sucks it.

  4. MetroDad says:

So funny, Sarah. I posted something today about how my daughter is so NOT a reader. Can’t believe your kid is reading Sagan already. I’m with Kemp (as usual.) Get Claudia on the Hawking tip!

  5. CroutonBoy says:

When was the last time you cracked Carl Sagan? Wait until she starts peppering you with questions on quantum physics…

  6. Sarah says:

I don’t even think I have ever looked at the pictures in that book. I’d better get on it so she doesn’t think I’m stupid.

  7. Sarah says:

I did, however, see “Contact” in the theatre – twice. (but the second time was only because I had a crush on Gabe and he was going).

  8. Kemp says:

I didn’t know that many people TOTAL saw Contact in the theater.

  9. Gidge says:

Dude, you DID love Gabe if you saw Contact twice. I saw it on cable once, and then had to watch it again to make sure it was actually as stupid as I perceived it to be the first time.
Introduce her to some Greg Bear. Once she grasps the concept of THE WAY she should start paying her own bills, I say.

  10. Devra says:

I used to confuse Carl Sagan with Isaac Asimov. Don’t know why, I just did. I also confused musician and magician. The only time this hampered my social function was when we attended anything related to a symphony. The musician had a wand, yet no magical powers. I felt that was way wrong!

  11. Gidge says:

Devra, I bed it’s because Carl Sagan and Isaac Asimov have an unusual number of As in their names.

    Look at all those As.

3 As? I think it might be a sign from another life form…..

  12. Sarah says:

Yeah, “Contact” is even worse the second time.

I think Bridgette is on to something with her 3 A theory.

Wait – my name has three A’s in it. Does Devra confuse me with Asimov and Sagan? We’ll find out on Saturday.

  13. Mister Hand says:

CARL SAGAN! Gettin’ that girl started off RIGHT!

  14. Mister Hand says:

I don’t know if I need to clarify this or not, but Contact was a novel, Cosmos is not. You should read Cosmos, Sarah. It’s awesome.

  15. Kristen says:

Sagan – very nice. Just keep her from the L.Ron Hubbard stuff :)

PS. Thanks for your kind words

  16. Rude Cactus says:

I’d have been equally impressed with the Churchill selection. You’ve got a smart one on your hands…not that there was any doubt.

  17. Scott says:

Thats great that she is getting into that at her age.

My 13 year old has been talking quantum physics with me since he was 8! My ex can’t answer any of his questions so he throws them all at me. We can go for hours. I give him an answer and that sparks another question.

Wait until she starts throwing those types of questions at you! Trust me, start reading now so you can try to keep up with her as she gets older.

  18. BIYF says:

Um… let’s talk about the rack of photo albums on the bottom shelf. When can you come to my house and get all of our photos out of boxes and into acid-free sleeves?

  19. Sarah says:

Yeah, all of my photo albums are pre-babies.

    And pre-digital camera.
