I liked Running With Scissors…both the movie and the book. I thought it was funny enough that I bought another of his books..Dry. Haven’t started it yet.

And thanks for the Sunday School Jamz link. I went and saw and then emailed by very Christian boyfriend the link and said “OUR FUTURE CHILD WILL NOT LISTEN TO THIS”. I’m sure he’ll appreciate it. hehe!!

I’m reading “Running With Scissors” right now. Or I should probably say I *started* it. It’s sitting on my nightstand. So far, not too impressed. Am not seeing any of the rampant humor that is supposed to be overflowing the pages. I just want to shake the mother and say “what the HE++ are you thinking with this so-called psychiatrist! he is HORRIBLE!”

But I shall persevere. A very good friend recommended it, and I want to finish it before I tell her I don’t like it. And it could grow on me. You know, like mold. mk

I really didn’t like RUNNING WITH SCISSORS. The things he poses as comedy, if they really happened are horrifying to me. But I guess pedophilia and child abuse aren’t as funny to old farts like me as they are to you young whipper snappers.
Seriously. I was terribly interested in it at first, but then, well…..I was pretty disgusted. The kid was completely sexually and mentally abused. And the thing with the shit – when they’d fish them out and look for signs from God?
One of the best lines ever about religious nuts is in the movie “Hannah and Her Sisters”…the guy says “If Jesus came back to day and saw all the crap going on in his name, he’d never stop throwing up.”

I pretty much felt like that about that book.

I love Augusten! “Running with Scissors” made me so sad. I like his short stories better because they bust a gut hilarious. “Magical Thinking” is my fave.

I tried to click the Sunday School Jamz link and got an error. But is that anything like those CDs called “Worship Jams”? When I hear those commercials on TV I always get those damn songs stuck in my head all day.

I read Running with Scissors. Didn’t it get made into a movie with Gwyneth Paltrow? Probably not as good as the book.

PLEASE stop (NO! don’t stop) telling me about the books you are reading. Now that I have time to read, I’m finding it very difficult to get through one book before I start three more (because of other people’s suggestions). I think I’m still in “frantic read mode” …
Sigh.
I’ll have to add this to my running list of books to look into and possibly read. The drawer of my bedside table is already over stuffed with books to read.
