It’s scary how fast they grow. My daughter was 2.5 pounds when she was born, and now she’s a nine year old who hits softballs over the fence at practice. I never thought I’d see the day…

Oh, and happy birthday Ian and Claudia!!

    Happy Birthday Goon Squad!

Yesterday Max told me, “Guess what, Mommy? I’m a dork!” At the time he was wearing a diaper, a pair of my Crocs (actually, one was mine and one was my husband’s), one of my bras picked out of the laundry basket, and a red Firestone Tires baseball cap.

And three years ago I was pregnant with this little immobile meatloaf and I never would have thought I’d see the day that he would make such a blatantly true statement.

And I second the donate blood thing. My uncle receives donor platelets three times a week.

  4. Nancy says:

Happy Birthday to the Squad!! And congrats to Mom and Dad for making it through 4 years with twins. ;-)

  5. geena says:

Happy birthday to the squad!! My twins just turned 5 on the 9th….i can’t believe they’ve already gotten as big as they have. I took them for pictures the other day and got them back yesterday and they look like little girls now and not cute babies (i swear last year they still had those baby faces)…

Melyssa was the same way on teaching her to eat and on being so little. Juleigha was 5 lbs 12 oz at birth and Melyssa only 4 lbs 15 oz

  6. De in D.C. says:

awww, happy birthday kids!! Make sure your mom and dad spoil you rotten for your birthday :D

  7. Headless Mom says:

Good luck with the poop thing. Challenges all around.

    Happy Day, Goon Squad!

  8. Stacy says:

Isn’t that Mag Sulfate, H-E-L-L? I remember yelling at my husband to “just get away! you’re too hot” (and no, he wasn’t even touchnig me). And, no, the mag didn’t work for me either.

T&M just turned 4 on 04/30. They started at 2 lb 3 oz – and I look at them now, healthy & happy 4-year-olds, and I wonder how did time get away from me? Now…mine are pooping on the potty, but not writing their names….hmmm…we’ll have to work on that.

  9. Stacy says:

Oh geesh – I forgot the most important part!

Happy 4th Birthday, Ian & Claudia!!!

  10. Happy Birthday to the Goon Squad!

  12. Cheryl says:

    Happy Birthday Claudia and Ian!
Our she-child was under 5lbs too…now a kindergartener, she wants me to curls her hair in sponge rollers nightly and her twin brother reads chapter books. It does fly…and while those early days make me nostalgic to reflect upon, lots of continued new fun awaits you! (At least for the next two years, that’s all I can testify to!)

    Happy Celebrations!

  13. merseydotes says:

Happy Birthday, Good Squad! It’s funny, Claudia looked like herself even as a newborn.

  14. Alison says:

  28. Kristabella says:

Happy birthday to the Goon Squad! So cute!

And yes, Ian, go poop in the potty every time! For your mom’s sake! :)

  29. Irma says:

Ok, it was just a sweet post until you added the hook at the end about the blood donor thing. I burst in to tears. THANK YOU for acknowledging the annonymous donor(s), and for encouraging others to give. It is such a simple thing to do, and it saves so many lives.

  30. M.A. Smith says:

Happy birthday to the Goon Squad!

If I didn’t have such needle issues, I’d probably have given blood by now. But since I used to faint every time I was stuck (even for shots), I’m not fully sure they would want to see me come in.

I’ve not fainted in a while (12 years), but I’ve also only given a little blood for testing and turned grey with doing that (I still seem to have problems remembering to breathe when stuck).

  31. that girl says:

Two things: #1, I have had several blood transfusions and I echo your plea for donors!

#2, your kids are awesome. happy birth-day

  32. tori says:

Happy birthday to your cutie pies!

I can’t give blood because I am still not clean from cancer, but 10 years after I have a clean scan (the legal/medical thing about not spreading cancer by accident) I will do it and think of you.

  33. Mich says:

    Happy Birthday, you goons!

  34. Nicole says:

Happy bday to your little ones and happy mother’s day to you!

four years ago and a few months my water broke 3 weeks early (not the same, I know). It was the middle of the night and after talking with the doc for a few minutes I asked him when I should go to the hospital
    He screamed, “NOW!”

btw- my little guy took a day to be toilet trained for peeing- over a year to get the poops on the toilet… every time. He’s just in the past couple of months doing it consistently, with no help. He just told me one day he didn’t need help. done. Of course now, I have to admire the size or number of his poops before he flushes… every time :)

  35. Lara says:

happy birthday to the adorable bits of fluff. good luck with the poop struggles ahead.

  36. feener says:

  41. Becky says:

  42. Alison says:

Oh, Tiffer, this is a beautiful post. You are so lucky and so blessed in so many ways. I hope you all enjoy the festivities of today!

  43. MamaKaren says:

I’m late to the party, but wishing a happy birthday to the goons anyway! It’s amazing how time flies, and how much those tough little people can overcome, what with the low birthweights and eating issues and such.

I just gave blood about two weeks ago. Of course, there is no way to know where my pint ended up, but it still feels good to think that I helped somebody out- I’m type O, so anyone can use what I have to offer!

  44. Jennifer says:

Happy birthday to them AND you!

  45. Britt says:

This is a really great post for a lot of reasons, but I really have to know how you found teeny tiny Misfits t-shirts. And how do I possibly know someone as cool as you?

  48. What a wonderful post. Happy birthday to Ian and Claudia and congratulations to YOU!

Wow, you were in the hospital that long? OMG!

  49. Happy belated birthday Ian and Claudia!

And a big hug to you for surviving for this long.
