I went to pick up The Goon Squad from preschool today and before Claudia even came out of her class room the co-opping parent came out and grabbed me.
I just wanted to let you know that Claudia’s tushy has been hanging out all day. It got so bad that I was afraid to look over there.
And because I am so mature I started cracking up.
We have been having this problem a lot lately. I blame tights and genetics.
The flat butt thing comes from my father’s side of the family and the tights just make everything slide down.
Besides a belt (most of her skirts don’t have any belt loops) do you have any suggestions of how to stop my little girl from continually mooning her class?

If she’s wearing tights, what’s the big deal? It’s not her actual butt hanging out, right? Sweet Pea’s pants/skorts are always too big in the waist. When it’s too-too bad and they really won’t stay up, I actually sew the waistband smaller. Other ideas: Double sided tape, super glue, snaps or staples? ;o)

Suspenders?

Would tucking in her shirts add enough extra bulk to keep things up?
Or find a 4yo-sized chastity belt.

If the parent was in the class all day looking at your poor kid’s butt, why didn’t she pull her pants up?

Maybe our Claudias are built the same: long torso, short legs, flat butt. That’s mine anyway.
Here’s what I do: buy different sizes. The top is always a size larger than the bottom, which seems to provide a little more coverage at the waistband.
(Why did I write this like Eloise?)

No idea. However, you inspired me to send this picture which someone sent me earlier today. http://paranoidx2.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!8BC15201C1246472!741.entry

That’s funny. You “cracked” up. So fitting.

Feed her Big Macs? Fatten up that flat butt!

Have you tried buying her clothes with adjustable waistbands? They are hidden inside, but give you lots of tightening-up ability.
My daughter, who turns 6 on Friday, wears a size 5 for length, but a size 3 in the waist. I have to buy all adjustable waistband pants and skirts for her, otherwise they are down around her ankles.

Oh God! I have the same problem with Boo! He has no hips or butt and a big tummy. He is constantly mooning the world and doesn’t (in good consciousness) have the option to wear a dress.
Either buy the girl some tools or just keep her in dresses.

Double sided tape? Works for Hollywood, right? O
kay, well, maybe not Janet Jackson… but the rest of them seem to be doing well with the whole taping thing.

Give all the other kids sunglasses and let her wear what she wants.

Switch to dresses. Full-body leotards. Wear a one-piece bathing suit underneath the other clothes. I’m out of idears. These are all bad, I know.

Hmmm….Tanner has that issue, too. Adjustable pants don’t do the trick – butt is just too flat… We went with a belt, but that is easier to do for boys.
If you come up with something, please be sure to share it.

I have a small waisted one, too. I try to buy clothes with adjustable waistbands…they are a life saver!

How about a heavy duty safety pin? We’ve had to do that for a number of Swee’Pea’s outfits as her waist is too small for her clothes.

I’m with Casey on this. How about pulling up the poor kid’s pants? I’d worry about belts or pins or such because they’d be a bear for her to undo herself when she needs to use the bathroom.

We do have this problem too. How about extra long tank tops/undershirts that don’t get tucked in?

She is more than welcome to have some of my extra booty padding. Lord knows I have enough to spare.

This is a problem for us too! We have turned to stretchy pants. Viva La Stretchy Pants!

One of my twins has been showing a lot of plumber’s cleavage recently, too — except that she finds it extremely funny. “My bum is hanging out, Daddy!” (hysterical laughter)
Unfortunately, I always laugh right along with her. No wonder the preschool ladies hate me.

Ah, we had the same issue yesterday! And then again today. No butt girls have problems I’ve never even thought about.

I have never had that issue! But I totally would have laughed too.

i’m all for adjustable waistbands… they really are great. or dresses or skirts with tights/leggings… oh and maybe pulling the poor kids pants up if you’re in her classroom? gosh, some people are ridiculous!
October 12th, 2008 at 2:38 pm, the weirdgirl Says:
I’d go the stretchy pants route. Or maybe boys boxers for over the tights and under the skirts? Boys generally have less butt (more crack!) so the boxers are made to stay on.
I’ve got on a booty on me though, so what do I know?

LOL. My daughter is 5 and has always had this problem. Her diapers hung off her butt all the time. We have more pictures of that child’s butt crack . . . She has a really long torso and flatish butt, so things just don’t stay up. I try to get her to wear dresses with leggings underneath, but some days she just wants to wear jeans and on those days, the crack is coming out. I have yet to find a pair of pants or a belt that contains it.
