1. Best meal ever? That is too hard, I have had a lot of good food. Most recently it was a 6 course meal at Beast in Portland (motto: praise the lard)

2. Soft and a bit stinky. One of my favorites is Red Hawk from Cowgirl Creamery in California. It is a triple-cream cow cheese. Yum.

3) As an Oregonian I have to say Pinot Noir (we can get good local ones).

4) I have and I used to not like it at all - so greasy. (I do like pate generally, so that is not the problem). Then I had a foie gras "bon bon" at Beast (see Q1) that whipped the fg into a mousse-y consistency and topped it with a little sea salt. Wow. Last week I had a "french kiss" (brandy soaked prune stuffed with foie gras) that was amazing. I am still not crazy about slabs of foie gras.

5) Wasabi but I will eat most kinds.

1. Port of Call in New Orleans. You'll laugh, but it was the best burger I've ever had in my life. I know, burgers in the heart of Creole, but we went back 3 times in a week. Ask Lori. LOL

2. Can't go wrong with aged cheddar (unless you spot mold, then it's aged too long)

3. Homemade wine we had on our honeymoon in Italy. OMG It's what started me drinking wine.

4. Frog grass? No I've never had fois gras. Did you like it?

5. Oregano flavored (unfortunately they only sell it in Europe. But in the states, I'd say Salt & Vinagar.

1) A ribs place called Bones in Odense, Denmark. Best ribs, best salad bar ever. Second best: Smugglers Inn, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada

2) Spiced Gouda, straight from The Netherlands (it has cumin seeds in it)

3) I prefer Diet Coke, but if pressed I'd say gewurztraminer.

4) I have. I did not. Oooh blechy. Ick. Must go eat something now to get the remembered taste out of my mouth.

5) Hmmm. Hard one. Lime & black pepper. (Salt n' vinegar, if you want a more mainstream flavour choice.

1. Sadly, I believe my truly fine dining days are behind me. And it was so long ago, that I can't remember my favorite. Two things stand out for me though, the time I first had escargot in Ft. Lauderdale, and this place http://lerelaisrestaurant.com/ in Louisville, KY. I don't remember what I ordered, but I remember that I loved it, and the place was really interesting. That's in this country. There was also Italy - where I never had a bad meal.

2.Derby Sage

3. Sangiovese

4. Yes, but I was not old enough to appreciate it. I may still not be.

5. Rosemary and Olive Oil.

2. Goat Cheese

3. Australian Shiraz (the spicier the better)

4. Yes - on a kobe burger with truffle butter at Trinity (see #1)

5. Sea Salt & Black Pepper

Cheese: Brie, And any other cheese for that matter.

Foie Gras: Not that I remember but aiming for a meal of that caliber soon.

Wine: Beer (I need to grow up)

Chips: Kettle cooked

hmmm.
1) probably texas de brazil in fort worth. i should probably say the fleur de lys in vegas--that was certainly the most expensive meal i've ever had--but most of the stuff they served i ended up feeding to my boyfriend.

i love to watch top chef, but tiny geometric food served on huge white plates is scary to me.

2) i love havarti. and mushroom brie. and velveeta. anything that even pretends to be cheese is usually pretty delicious.
oh, except swiss.
hate!

3) vodka.

4) no, but i sneaked some off my plate at the fleur de lys.

5) i have a very good relationship with munchos.

1. Good question. I'm going to go with Gibson's in Chicago.
2. A tie between Dill Havarti and Brie
3. Zinfandel. Which is NOT WHITE ZINFANDEL, people. The Zinfandel grape is RED. White Zinfandel is NOT WINE.
4. No. The thought of it grosses me out. Also, it was banned in Chicago up until recently.
5. Do Cheetos count? If not, Fritos.

1) Think about the best meal you ever ate in a restaurant. What was the restaurant?

3 Petite Bouchons in Montreal. Seriously - best meal ever.

2) What is your favorite kind of cheese?

What isn't my favorite kind of cheese? Cheese is life. If I HAD to pick one, it'd probably be old cheddar. Or havarti with dill. Or a nice, soft Brie.

See? I can't pick one.

3) What is your favorite varietal of wine?

Any good cabernet sauvignon, but I do love the South African and Australian ones best. Wolf Blass yellow label is *the* classic red, as far as I'm concerned.

4) Have you ever eaten foie gras? If so, did you like it?

I have, and I did. It was paired with barbequed eel. Oddly spectacular.

5) What is your favorite flavor of potato chip?

Plain. Isn't that awful? Old Dutch plain potato chips. Sometimes with a smidge of dill pickle dip.
