The Goon Squad has this thing at their school that is called “Star of the Week”. Each kindergartner gets a turn and when it is their week they make a poster of the things that they like and it gets hung on the wall all week and at some point the child gets to tell the whole class about their display.
Claudia is the star of next week.
We went to the craft store to get supplies this morning. I figured since we were already there we would get the stuff for both of the kids because Ian will be star of the week at the end of October. Why not just get his poster board too?
Our craft store is one of those huge places that has an entire section dedicated to poster board so there were many shades to choose from. I asked the kids which color each of them wanted.
Claudia (predictibly) chose the pinkest pink that ever pinked. It is so bright that I am still seeing spots. It is what safety orange would be if it was pink.
Then Ian said:
I want dark red – the color of death.
Those were his exact words.
His father would probably say something like “You can take the boy out of Tampa…” but I would say:
Metal.

Swweeet. My She-Twin wanted her (and her brother’s) bedroom walls to be painted black. Maybe my She-Twin (2nd grade) will go all Demi Moore on your He-Twin (K) in the future.

I actually said “He’s so metal” out loud, before I got to the part where you said it. Awesome.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience with us. I can just imagine the enthusiasm that your kids must have had when they were describing how they wanted things to get done and have that first grasp of happiness when they realized that they were actually going to get it! Please show us the finished product I bet its going to be one funny yet memorable poster.

Love it! Our boys would be fast friends. Tonight I heard the following from my son, “I cannot take a bath because me and daddy are building a bomb!” Uh…WTF??

My son’s class does this too. His turn isn’t until April though…
