  1. 1. Sports Night
    2. Top Chef
    3. The West Wing, of course.
    4. I honestly can’t think of a single one I’ve ever seen…maybe “It,” the one with John Ritter in it. Was that a MFTVM?
    5. I really liked pretty much every Tom Petty video. Probably “Don’t Come Around Here No More.”

  2. 1. M*A*S*H
    2. Um, the only one I’ve watched is American Idol. Really. Oh, I did watch Temptation Island. But I didn’t like it.
    3. ER. Totally. I hung in all 15 years.
    4. Riding the Bus With My Sister, starring Andie McDowell and Rosie O’Donnell. Cause my writing mentor wrote the book it was based on.
    5. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper, of course! Although I also love Everybody Hurts by REM.

  3. 1) That ’70s Show

    2) The Mole

    3) The Sopranos

    4) Prayers for Bobby

    5) RHCP – Dani California

This was surprisingly easy. I usually struggle over stuff like this.

  4. 1) I Love Lucy

    2) The Amazing Race

    3) A tie: Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Lost

    4) The only one I can think of right now is “Playing for Time” starring Vanessa Redgrave.

    5) A tie, all in the Jackson family: Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”/Janet Jackson’s “Love Will Never Do Without You.”

  5. 1. I’m with Molly. “Sports Night” with “Arrested Development” as a close second.

    2. The Amazing Race.

    3. Doctor Who. The 2005 revival version.

    4. “The Late Shift” on HBO (about the Letterman vs. Leno late-night wars in the early 90s).

    5. “You Might Think” by the Cars

  6. 1. Either Fawlty Towers or Absolutely Fabulous (and why yes, I am indeed British… how did you guess?!)
    2. Don’t hate me, but I’ve never watched reality TV stuff (maybe it’s better quality in the US, but here in France it’s just dire in my opinion, based admittedly on nothing more than snippets watched by mistake)
    3. I don’t actually watch much TV here in France at all, but back in Britain when I was young I really enjoyed all the costume stuff – Pride and Prejudice for example. Even though I hated the book…
    4. Don’t know, haven’t often watched any.
    5. Ah, this one’s easier! At the risk of sounding like the dinosaur I am, I loved Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” video back in the days of yore (I must have been about 18 or so)

  7. 1. Absolutely Fabulous, even though I’m not British. Patsy reminds me of my best friend (gorgeous, slutty, lazy) and Edina reminds me of me (unorganized, goofy, overweight.)

    2. I don’t like reality TV, but I’ll confess to a sick fascination with Breaking Bonaduce.

    3. Can I pick Buffy, even though there’s lots of comedy? Or does it have to be straight drama? If so, then Battlestar Gallactica.

    4. I haven’t watched a MfTV movie in so long, I wouldn’t remember a single title.

    5. I agree with Kirsty. “Sledgehammer” is brilliant. It’s by Nick Park, who did Wallace and Gromit. You’ve got to love good stop-motion animation, right? And the song is pretty good, too. Heh. I also really love Hey Ya by OutKast.

  8. 1. I’m gonna be a huge dork & say Friends. Cuz it’s true.

    2. Project Runway.

    3. ER (at least until the last 2 seasons or so).

    4. I’m blank. Seriously. All I can think of right now is that movie “In A Child’s Name” with Valerie Bertinelli, and I’m pretty sure I’m only thinking of it because Miss Banshee mentioned it recently. It’s a pretty awful movie.

    5. “Weapon of Choice” by Fatboy Slim. Because I cannot get enough of Christopher Walken dancing.

  9. Rosanne

    Table for 12? Monster House? Crap… I don’t know

Ever? Kung Fu. Currently? Burn Notice.

Was Sibyl a mftvm? If not then The Day After.

Fantasia, it’s the great granddaddy of all music videos. You probably mean post 1980 though. Thriller is pretty badass, as was This Note’s For You (Neil Young) and basketcase (Green Day). oops – you most likely want just one…

  10. 1) friends
    2) america’s next top model/project runway (i know. don’t hate me! they are my *fluffy no-brain, nobody got murdered, pretty pictures* shows)
3)Past: Six Feet Under. Present: Nurse Jackie.
    4)Grey Gardens? Does that count?
5)Everyday by Dave Matthews Band? Or maybe Rio by Duran Duran.. haha. Too many to name.

    Fun!

  11. 1. Modern Family
    2. Project Runway (but I like all of those silly shows!)
    3. Six Feet Under
    4. Errrrr, can’t think of one!
    5. Randy Newman “I Love LA”

  12. 1) Probably Cheers – “Decimal point, Woody”

    2) American Idol

    3) Does Buffy the Vampire Slayer Count?

    4) I don’t remember one offhand – but I’ll pretty much stop and watch anything w/ Valerie Bertinelli in it

    5) ZZ Tops – “Legs”

  13. 1. Mad About You – because I am old, and I haven’t really liked any sitcoms since.

    2. Does No Reservations qualify? If not then it’s a toss up btw Top Chef and the Amazing Race. I see a theme here.

    3. Homicide and The Wire.

    4. I can’t remember a MfTVM that I’ve ever watched that I didn’t feel slimey about afterwards. Unless we can count Band of Brothers. I loved that. I’m very interested in seeing what Pacific is going to be like.

    5. There are a lot of great ones listed, but the first one that came to my mind was “Take on Me.”

  14. 1) My favorite sitcom would probably be Sports Night, as it is the only one I own on DVD. Either that or Cheers or the Cosby Show, both of which I adored. Not as much of a fan of current sitcoms, though I might just not have as much time as I used to.

    2) My favorite reality show would have to be The Amazing Race. I think I’ve only missed maybe one season of the entire run.

    3) Six Feet Under. And I’m still madly in love with Moonlighting (before David and Maddy got together and killed the tension). And I was really addicted to 90210 and Melrose Place back in the day.

    4) I don’t know that I can think of a favorite, per say, but my goodness can I fall quickly into those when I come across them. CAN’T LOOK AWAY.

    5) I’m not a big watcher-of-music-videos really. Any videos I’ve loved I didn’t really love for the video, but for the song. Do they even play music videos on TV anymore?

  15. 1) It’s a close tie between Friends (especially the first three or four seasons) and the Office, which is so close to my daily life, sometimes it’s scary.

    2) The first few seasons of The Real World. It was good premise, until they threw in hot tubs, swanky jobs and people with no moral compass.

    3) Lost. I’ve just started it, and I’m on season 3. It’s so bad sometimes it’s good, and it’s so good sometimes that I want to watch it all day instead of work. Addicting.

    4) Does the BBC’s Pride and Prejudice count? I hope so, but really it was a miniseries. All the made for TV movies I remember were the Disney Channel ones from when I was a tween, and I don’t think I could bring myself to list those here.

    5) It used to be “Black Hole Sun,” or “Last Dance with Mary Jane” but I think now maybe it’s “Virtual Insanity” by Jamaraquai (whose name I will NEVER LEARN TO SPELL), because the orientation totally freaks me out. And it reminds me of happy times.

  16. 1) Friends
    2) Big Brother
    3) ER…no Grey’s Anatomy…no Firefly..no Battlestar Gallactica…crap. ok ER.

    4) The Disney one with Katherine Heigle where she and her sister swap bodies for a week or something. That’s the only one i can think of. Wish Upon a Star i think it is

    5) i can’t think of one..we used to watch mtv vh1 nonstop and now they’ve turned into regular channels and i can’t remember anything from before last week.

  17. 1. Are You Being Served (PBS has brought me British humor, for which I’m grateful).

    2. The Baby Borrowers, it was fascinating

    3. Burn Notice, if I can only pick one

    4. Sarah, Plain and Tall

    5. I don’t have one.

  18. 1) Friends.

    2) Beauty and the Geek

    3) Gilmore Girls (Does that count as a drama? It’s the only show I can watch repeatedly)

    4) I’m a big Disney Original movie girl… I am going to go with Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century

    5) Maroon 5 anything. I have a weakness for Adam Levine.

  19. 1) M*A*S*H is my all-time favorite comedy, but I also am very fond of The Office.

    2) Hmm. I don’t feel strongly about any particular reality TV show. I have watched Survivor from time to time, if that counts.

    3) Favorite drama would be The West Wing.

    4) Favorite made for tv movie — hmmm — maybe The Thorn Birds? (when I was a kid, this was the ultimate in forbidden TV)

    5) Something by Duran Duran. Probably Rio. I used to get goosebumps when I saw the intro to that video come on MTV or VH1.

  20. 1. MASH, I think. Sometimes there are era-specific jokes that go over my head, but mostly it totally rocks.

    2. America’s Next Top Model. Judge away.

    3. The West Wing.

    4. This is too hard: my knee-jerk response is the epic, “Not Without My Daughter,” starring Sallie Field… BUT… I would be remiss if I did not mention the entire “Anne of Green Gables” series that PBS uses during the fund raisers… and then there is one lifetime movie where the dad from 7th Heaven seduces the babysitter who is Felicity, and DAMN Y’ALL that movie is tv crack (Google says it is called, originally enough, “The Babysitter’s Seduction”)… oh, how I love me some made-for-tv-movies…

    5. First thing that jumps into mind is “Right Now” by Van Halen, but the “Everybody Hurts” video was welcomed by my angsty 16-year-old-self, too… and there’s the everloving “Hot For Teacher” of my youth, ooooh and “We Ain’t Gonna Take It,” during which I decided that Dee Snyder was for sure the scariest individual alive…

  21. 1. Happy Days (i am old)
    2. Kitchen Nightmares
    3. West Wing
4.Dancing in the Dark The Boss it was the first one i ever saw.

  22. 1. Friends
    2. American Idol
    3. Buffy, if it counts. Bones? (I don’t watch a lot of drama.)
    4.I watch even fewer movies.
5.Reba Mcentyre and Vince Gill’s The Heart Won’t Lie

  23. 1. Veronica Mars–I can’t get over how much I loved such a short lived program.

    2. Project Runway/Top Chef (complete and utter tie)

    3. Six Feet Under

    4. Totally the Thorn Birds–when I was little I saw it but didn’t quite get it. Then I watched it again. Loved it.

    5. I really think it was either Hot For Teacher or When Doves Cry (neither for their great technical skills but I was in love with both DLR and Prince).

  24. 1. Cheers
    2. The first season of The Apprentice
    3. The West Wing
    4. Brian’s Song
    5. Hot for Teacher – Van Halen

  25. 1. How I Met Your Mother
    2. Pass – don’t think I have ever liked any of them
    3. Six Feet Under
    4. The only time I ever saw one was when I was home sick. So I have no idea. Watching something just because I didn’t feel well enough to change the channel doesn’t bode well for any of them though!
    5. OK Go – Here It Goes Again

  26. 1. Fawlty Towers. Or the British version of the Office.
    2. Wife Swap. What a wonderful freak show.
    3. The Wire by a factor of 1000.
    4. I’m with all the BBC Pride and Prejudice people.
    5. U2 – I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For

  27. 1) CHUCK! or How I Met Your Mother

    2) Amazing Race

    3) Journeyman… or Heroes… or Battlestar Gallactica… or Castle

    4) …drawing a blank… can’t think of any made for TV movies.

    5) Can’t even think of the last music video I watched much less which would be considered my favorite.

  28. 1) Friends or How I Met Your Mother

    2) Amazing Race

    3) Lost

    4) North and South

    5) Genesis / Land of Confusion

  29. 1. Dharma & Greg

    2. HGTV

    3. Medium

    4. Little Mermaid

    5. Twisted Sister – I Wanna Rock

  30. 1) Big Bang Theory.

    2) It’s a tie between Top Chef and Amazing Race.

    3) In this moment? Greys. However I think of all time would be Alias.

    4) and 5) Um…no idea. My brain is swiss cheese these days.

  31. 1. Happy Days

    2. HGTV

    3. Northern Exposure

    4. Can’t think of one.

    5. Anything from the Dave Mathews’s Band

  32. 1) Lifetime: Happy Days Real, recent life: The Office

But I loved Friends. Loved. Seen every episode at least once. Triple tie?

    2) Top Chef & the San Francisco season of the Real World

    3) ER & NYPD Blue are an inextricable tie.

4)The Thorn Birds (which was really a miniseries) and anything not starring Valerie Bertinelli.

    5) Save a Prayer. That song changed my life although I had no idea why at the time, plus all of those lighters when people still had lighters, please. But I’m kind of jealous of the I Wanna Rock person a few people before me.

  33. Velocibadgergirl says:

    1. I’m kind of drawing a blank. I watched Friends back in the day, but don’t really enjoy it in reruns. I have vague memories of liking Dharma and Greg, and sometimes Will and Grace cracked me up. Right now we don’t watch any comedies.

    2. Tie between Project Runway and Deadliest Catch

    3. This is hard, too, because we tend to watch shows that are more actiony or procedural. If Bones counts as a drama, I just watched the first four seasons on DVD and really enjoyed it. I think our favorite non-reality, non-educational show on tv now is Burn Notice.

    4. I can’t think of the last made for tv movie I watched. We like to make fun of the ads for the original movies on sci fi.

    5. I didn’t have cable in high school, but a friend and I sometimes watched MTV during our TA period at school. I remember really liking the video for NIN’s The Perfect Drug.

  34. 1) Friends was definitely must-see TV for me in its day, but currently it is Modern Family

    2) Don’t watch any reality TV except for American Idol…so I guess it is that by default

    3) Hands-down, LOST. I will feel a void in my life when it ends in May.

    4) Can’t think of a single one.

    5) Out of loyalty, I would have to say a Bon Jovi one

  35. 1. Northern Exposure

    2. Project Runway

    3. House

    4. Shogun

    5. A Ha’s video for ‘Take On Me’

Good questions! Tomorrow, I might have different answers, but these are pretty good. . .

  36. 1 Barney Miller/M.A.S.H it’s a tie.

    2. Rescue 411, just kidding. Top Chef

    3. Again a tie: ThirtySomething, ER and The Practice

4.At Mother’s Request, only because it’s the only one I can remember.

    5. King Tut by Steve Martin

  37. that would be Rescue 911. Seriously I think I’m turning into my mother.

  38. 1) M*A*S*H (yeah, I’m old)
    2) 404 — favorite reality show not found
    3) Star Trek (all of’em)
    4) Probably some early eighties miniseries starring Jane Seymour — because, rawr.
    5) The first one I ever saw — “Video Killed the Radio Star” by the Buggles.

  39. 1. 30 Rock. I know it’s newer, but it’s HILARIOUS. Alec Baldwin kills me.

    2. American Idol

    3. Currently, it’s Burn Notice. I love that show. All time is probably West Wing.

    4. The only one I can think of is Bubble Boy.

    5. Take on Me – Ah Ha

  40. traceyVA says:

    1. Mad About You – Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt there has never been anything funnier.
    2. Survivor – I think it is actually getting better every season
    3. West Wing – The only TV show I actually own on DVD
    4. A Wrinkle in Time – It wasn’t the greatest and if you didn’t read the books you missed a lot, but I waited over 20 years for it to be made into a movie.
    5. Pat Benatar – Love is a Battlefield

My original answer to #4 was The Legend of Billie Jean, but then I Googled it and found out it wasn’t a MFTV movie and had to change it; so now I have a question.

What was YOUR favorite 80’s movie? My answer is above.

  41. 1. The Big Bang Theory

    2. Project Runway/Top Chef tie

    3. Oh… too hard for all time but current is The Good Wife

    4. The Christmas Shoes

    5. Oh goodness, I haven’t watched a music video in years but I found the Weird Al ones entertaining.
