Questions for You!

Today we have another installment of “Questions For You”. We have questions today for two reasons. One, because I am trying to write a post about all of your HILARIOUS irrational fears and the formatting has gone crazy and I just don’t have the patience to deal with it today and two because I was craving potato chips again and had a very important potato chip question for you guys. Today’s episode is brought to you by my new friends at Pro Dunk Hoops. True story.

On to the questions!

1) If you were stranded on a desert island, and you could only have one salty snack what would it be?

2) Who is your very favorite person to follow on twitter?

Don’t say me. I mean, you can say me, and I will probably be terrible flattered, but also name someone else awesome that I need to be aware of.

3) Do you care at all about the NBA lockout?

3b) Did you even know about the basketball lockout?

4) What is the best song that has come out so far in 2011?

5) Have you ever performed on stage? What was the biggest crowd you have played for/acted for/sung for/danced for/spoken in front of?

* * *

This post is sponsored by Pro Dunk Hoops, but I (obviously) wrote all of the questions.

  1. 1) Wheat Thins Garden Veggie crisps

    2) I don’t really have a favorite, anyone I just can’t miss a word. But I do enjoy @foodhussy and @TemerityJane

    3) No. I less than care.

3b) Only because I saw a Kobe headline this morning.

    4) Rolling in the Deep, Adele

    5) Hmmm no. I was in colorguard in high school, so we performed for lots, but as a large group and…’s band. So. No.

  2. 1) Everything Pretzel Crisps

    2) Probably my friend @Sarawara

    3) Personally, not really. But considering my newly-married neighbor works for the Hawks, I’m worried for him and his new bride.

3b) Just from talking with the neighbors.

    4) Paris (Oh La La) by Grace Potter & the Nocturnals

    5) I was in theater in high school, so some stage acting there in a few plays. But more recently, I taught pole dancing, and performed at a Women’s Charity Benefit in front of around 200 people, and also at a conference expo hall, and I have no idea how many people saw me that day.

  3. 1 tortilla

2 You already follow MrLady – do you know @LiesITellMyKidz

    3 no

    3b no

4 Probably something off the new Foo Fighters album

5 yes – was in a band back when every third person in Seattle was contractually obligated to be in one

  4. Tricia Honea says:

    1. Nacho cheese doritos

    2. I don’t know. I’m trying to get my twitter groove back so I don’t have a favourite.

    3. I could care less about the NBA lockout. They cut off their nose to spite their face. Dumb, dumb, dumb

3b. Of course. I read the sports page.

    4. Catchiest song is “pumped up kicks” by foster the people

    5. I was in the play “Annie” in 2nd grade in front of the whole school and all the parents, but as an adult I facilitated classes in front of groups of 15-20 on a regular basis.

  5. 1) Sunflower Seeds. Can’t live without ’em. When I went to Pakistan for 6 weeks, I took 1 lb for each week. Yep, 6 pounds of seeds and I still ran out.

    2) @MindyKaling

3)Yes, I know about the lockout, but my husband only watches the finals, so it hasn’t affected us yet. If they don’t get their shit together, he will be complaining next May/June, though. Honestly, I am more upset about watching the Big 12 disintegrate within the NCAA. I could give a shit less about all the Texas teams, but watching the others start to bail is breaking my heart.

    4) *blink* I am really out of it, music-wise. I mostly purchase pop/dance these days because I am constantly on the hunt for good workout tunes.

5)In the early 90s, I gave a speech about the history of Bosnian women at a candlelight vigil. The crowd was 100+

  6. 1. Sour cream and chive pringles. I’m old skool.

    2. @Buns_In_My_Oven. Or you, of course. She teaches me how to cook easy, fat-laden things that my children will eat.

    3. Nope. I should but I won’t.

    3b. Only vaguely.

    4. I remain 20 yeas behind with music, mostly, but I do like that song that goes “all the other kids with their pumped up kicks…” even though it’s kind of scary.

    5. I sing the Nat’l Anthem every year for a Mardi Gras Ball that has about 600 attendees. That’s scary but they are all drunk, so it could definitely be worse.

  7. 1. Popcorn with butter and salt. Or if it has to be a bagged snack, probably Fritos.

    2. Mimismartypants

    3. Not particularly.
    3b. Nope.

    4. I tend to notice songs WAY after everyone else. Looking at my Shazam tags I think the only song I’ve tagged in there from 2011 is LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem because I thought it would make a good addition to my running playlists.

    5. After three or four years of auditions my high school was picked for a group concert (two high schools and four college choirs) at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, I think that was my biggest audience for anything stage-related. I also did a bunch of speaking engagements in college classes telling my comming out story/answering a bunch of student questions about gay people, and I think the largest class would have been 300ish. That would have been my biggest audience by myself (vs. part of a choir).

  8. 1. It’s a three way tie! Corn Nuts, Trader Joe’s cheetos, or Trader Joe’s pop chips.

    2. Every single tweet of @robhuebel ‘s is SOLID. Like this: “I am addicted to smoking the junk mail I get of Todd Bridges asking me to become an addiction counselor.”

3a and 3b. No. Hockey and football widow here.

    4. Super lame but I never get tired of the Party Rock Anthem video. The dancing is amazing.

    5. I was Conjunction in the parts of play speech in the 5th grade. Does that count? I am not a performer, at all.

  9. Frank Sucks says:

    1. Bachman Pretzel Nuggets

    2. First, I’m upset that you didn’t say me (@frankiefronts), so there! Albert Brooks (@AlbertBrooks) it is then!

    3. No and Yes, and hockey starts in a week

    4. Since Rolling in the Deep and Written in the Stars came out last year, I’ll say Gaga’s The Edge of Glory (RIP Big Man)

    5. I don’t know, I guess I’m spoken in front of 100 or so. And there was the solo on Rhinestone Cowboy for chorus in 5th grade in front of the PTA meeting….

  10. 1. Probably pretzels, little ones like the Snyder’s twists. Though, if there are avocado trees on the island, then definitely restaurant-style tortilla chips.

    2. Ooh, that’s a hard one. I do adore @Mom101 and many others. Big fan of @suburbanhaiku. That, and all of the faux West Wing people. Love me some @Pres_Bartlet.

    3. As long as there is still college sports, no. Haven’t much cared about the NBA since middle/high school in the days of the Bulls double-three-peat.
3a. I did, but only vaguely.

    4. Oh dear. Recent music. Good lord do I suck on that front. Does Darren Criss singing “Something’s Coming” on Glee this week count? I think he’s freaking adorable, and I am a sucker for West Side Story.

    5. Yes, almost exclusively as part of a choir or orchestra. I’d say the biggest crowd was with the St. Olaf Orchestra, probably the Christmas Fest concert. That was pretty big on campus, I’d guess a thousand people or more? Of course, there were a solid 500 musicians, too…

  11. 1) Do I have to pick one of the Rap Snacks? If so, Master P. If I can pick anything, I would go with Fritos.

2)Oh man, I don’t even know. I love the fake accounts. That Fake Mayor Rahm Emmanuel was one of the best ever. He’s gone into hiding.

3a) Only how it effects Adrienne Maloof on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
    3b) Vaguely.

    4) I have no clue. Something in the pop or rap category.

    5) I was in marching band in high school. We performed at competitions around the Midwest. Our national competition was held in the Hoosier Dome. So I’ve performed in front of a 1/2 filled Hoosier Dome. Wearing a feather plume on my head. TRUE STORY.

  12. 1) Ice cream

    2) That’s just an unfair question. Too many people from which to choose. I will say @annsrants makes me laugh a lot.

    3) Not in the least

    3b) Yes

    4) Music? Who has time to listen to music?

    5) Yes. I have sung in front of lots of people. Probably the most was about 4k.

  13. 1. Do Little Debbie’s Nutty Bars count as a salty snack? No? Okay, Pringles then.

    2. I’m not really on Twitter that much so I can’t even remember who I follow. But I’ll go with Weird Al ’cause that’s the only person I remember following.

    3. huh?
    3b. Refer to #3

    4. Best song of 2011: The Lonely Island – I Just Had Sex

    5. I used to do plays in high school, 3 a year. We always did a musical in the spring and all three show-nights were standing room only for our 1,000 seat auditorium.

  14. 1. Can I have salsa? If I can I want tortilla chips. If not, I want original flavor Ruffles.

    2. I like @queensenglish50cent. Loony.

    3. a. and b. No.

    4. The Beastie Boys had a song out earlier this year, right? I think it’s that, even though i’ve only heard it maybe twice.

    5. In 4th through 8th grades, I performed various roles in “A Christmas Carol” every year, which was performed by my private school at Western Michigan University’s Miller Auditorium, which is pretty good sized. When “Wicked” and “Les Miserables” come to town, this is where they perform it. It’s kind of a thrill to see Elphaba singing “Defying Gravity” where I first wore a ball gown and hoop skirt at the age of 10.

  15. 1. Pretzel sticks.

    2. Yeah, I’m still not on Twitter.

    3. No.
    3b. No.

    4. I’ve not been listening to my radio at all lately.

    5. I haven’t been on a stage since my 6th grade play in 1992/3. I know there were parents and siblings in the audience, but I have no clue how many people were watching us.

  16. 1. Probably regular popcorn, but I’d have to pop it myself. Occasionally I binge on sunflower seeds and I regret it later.

    2. I find myself laughing daily at @JohnFugelsang. Yesh, that guy who once hosted America’s Funniest Videos a long time ago. Liberal humor.

    3. First I’ve heard of it.

    4. I was really into that Foster the People song until I looked up the lyrics – damned disturbing.

    5. I did a little theatre in college. I was often the understudy but usually became part of the cast before opening night. I was Elizaveta in Playing for Time. Maybe 500 in the audience. 5 shows. I’d love to do community theatre if I had the time, but I have the feeling I’ve outgrown whatever talent I might have had.

  17. 1. I have to in this moment go with Salt & Vinegar chips. However, I change my mind so often, I really hope this never happens to me.

    2. I have a lot. I follow some awesome people. Present company included. However, for this, I’ll pick two. @marinkanyc because she’s one of the funniest people I know. And @houseofgirls3 because I love seeing what thing she will say next. She’s one of my closest friends, but she’ll talk about ANYTHING!

    3. Nope and Nope.

    4. I..uh…I have no clue. I listen to Pandora non-stop and XM in my car. But I couldn’t tell you a song name if I tried. I could sing you lyrics though. But yeah, I have no clue.

    5. Yes as a kid and I despised it. I played the piano from 5 – 13. In fact, I gave it up at 13, because I refused to go on stage to play at an event at UCLA. *shudder* Biggest group was around 800. However? I think speaking at BH in 2009 may tie.

  18. 1) Lay’s Sour Cream & Onion potato chips. They are yummy. I ate a whole bag of them last night. It was something like 39 Weight Watcher’s Points. But I journaled it.

    2) I have a Twitter account, but I don’t really Twitter. If you want to read about my workouts, you can follow me. E-mail me and I’ll send you my handle or twitter name or whatever.

    3) Yes, I’m aware about the lockout. The Thunder made it to the final four last year. But, it only effects me in a very general sort of way since we don’t really watch it much or go to the games.

4)I probably couldn’t name a song that came out this year. I’m not much into music.

    5) I’m a lecture at Church where there were probably as many as 350-400 people. I spoke at a CLE seminar with about 50 people there one time.

  19. FYI: I’m nominating you for the prestigious and highly coveted Versatile Blogger Award on Monday (which you can accept, or not…it’s completely up to you)! Congratulations! 😀

Incidentally, my post (Food for Thought) will be live around 5am EST and I’ve linked to your site. Hope that was okay and that you’ll be somewhat flattered. 😉

Thanks so much for writing so well (hence, the award)!

    Planet Mom

  20. 1. Sun Chips Garden Salsa. I also like kettle cooked Jalapeno chips, but I think the Sun Chips are a better long-term choice.

    2. No twitter.

    3. They better get their act together.

3b. Well, they have been talking about it since immediately after the whistle blew and Dallas won the title, so yes, I have heard about it.

    4. I’m going with Pretty Girl Rock by Keri Hilson as favorite single song and guilty pleasure.

    5. I used to play the trumpet, but it was never just by myself. Biggest crowd as part of an ensemble was probably about 100 people. I also had a little rap band in high school, and we performed in front of a crowd of about 100 once, maybe more.

  21. 1. Goldfish, of course
    2. What’s Twitter?
    3. Actually rooting for it
    3b. see above
    4. Little Lion Man – Mumford & Sons
    5. Oh, I’ve seen a million faces and rocked them all!

  22. 1. Cheetos (aka puffed corn snack)
    2. @pourmecoffee
    3. Interested to see if all these guys play all over the world. Also, new love for D-Wade. Stern deserves a smackdown.
    4. I am so out of it. I have enjoyed listening to the new Lady Gaga in the locker room, though.
    5. I was once on CBS this morning but that’s not *really* a stage. (Also, how many people watch that?) Probably 200 for a debate or a panel or 300 for a musical (but only in the chorus).

  23. 1. Pringles sour cream and onion (good job I’d be alone I guess…).
    2. @sundry is one of my favourites (I enjoy yours too!).
    3. I don’t even know what that means (total US sport ignorance here, I’m afraid).
    4. Hot Chelle Rae, “Tonight, Tonight” – been humming it ALL summer.
    5. There were school “house” (like the ones in Harry Potter – I was in Unicorn!) musicals every year when I was in middle and high school and the last year I was the narrator. The theme was the seasons, Unicorn House got spring and we did a thing about Cupid screwing up (rabbits falling in love with ducks, that kind of thing). We had to write all our own material, make all our own costumes, decors, etc. I was dressed as a bunny girl (yes, very appropriate) and had to plant a very lipstick-y kiss on my (male) Latin teacher at the end, whilst singing (not on my own, it was an ensemble number) a song we “wrote” to the music of the Elvis classic “Wooden Heart”. Embarrassing? No, not at all. Of course it wasn’t.

  24. 1. Pistachios in the shell. Because shelled is cheating.
    2. robdelaney. Makes me laugh ALL the time.
    3. No. I went NBA cold turkey about 15 years ago and I don’t care.
    3b. No
    4. Lluviá al Corazon, Juanes
    5. Yes. That Voices of the Year thing was pretty huge. Maybe 750 people?

  25. indigo tara says:

    1. Bugles. YUMM!

    2. I don’t twitter, but keep thinking I should check it out.

    3. Don’t care.

    4. The whole new Indigo Girls CD, Beauty Queen Sister.

    5. When I was a senior in high school, I sang in All-Northwest Choir (which seemed like such a HUGE deal at the time), for an audience of about 3,000.

  26. 1. munchos. unless pepperoni and mushroom pizza counts as a salty snack.

    2. i think i had a twitter once…

    3. only because it’s annoying that people with that much money have so much to argue about. i live 20 minutes outside of detroit, i have enough sports to worry about at the moment.

    4. someone like you, adele.

    5. i sang a solo in vivaldi’s “gloria” onstage at carnegie hall in 1996. i won’t even kaorake anymore. kinda weird.
