I Guess I’m on the Mailing List

The best thing that could have possibly happened to Ian happened when I was in Chicago.

I have mentioned before Ian’s obsession with Yo Gabba Gabba, a tv show that doesn’t even start airing until August 20th. (He is way ahead of the game.)

Well, I must be on Nick Jr.’s mailing list, because while I was away I got a press kit for Yo Gabba Gabba.  It had a DVD with an entire episode on it (thank the Gods, now I can stop watching the trailer on YouTube over and over and over) and a CD with some songs on it.

Ian lost his mind. We have easily watched this DVD 35 times. You know what? I don’t mind. I kind of like it. It is quirky, and funny, and almost throwback. Elijah Wood taught my kids how to do The Puppet Master dance. Mark Mothersbaugh (yeah, the guy from Devo that now does movie scores) draws a picture of a potato bug on a skateboard.mothersbaugh_yo_gaba_gabba

How could I not love this show? And The Goon Squad is mesmerized. HYPNOTIZED. This particular episode also encourages them to try new food and clean up after themselves.

Brainwash away Yo Gabba Gabba. These are lessons I want them to know.

Plus, I can get some writing and laundry done while they are glued to the tv.

Thanks Nick Jr.  Feel free to send me stuff like this anytime.

  1. Thanks for letting me know when it starts. My daughter is already crying and whinning because she wants to watch it. I keep trying to set up TIVO to record it, but it’s too soon. So it’s not that bad?

  2. OH MY GOD YOU LET YOU’RE KIDS WATCH TV THEY ARE GOING TO GRWO UP TO BE DUM

  3. I had never heard of this show. I’m sure it’ll hook Dawson though. We’ve exhausted the entire selection of videos at the library. Not that he watches too much TV or anything. Okay, an hour or two a day. I can’t help it. I have shit to do. 😉

  4. You are so lucky!
My kid would probably give her spleen for a copy of that…

She is hypnotized by those commercials.

  5. I think it’s because you’re famous and somebody and Nickelodeon is watching you . . . always.

  6. “somebody AT Nickelodeon,” although I’m sure there’s somebody besides Nickelodeon watching too. You are not alone.

  7. Now, that is a good PR person (if you got it because of the blog). Someone did his research.

    (And I’m laughing at lumpyheadsmom)

  8. great another show that will drive me to drink. more.

  9. Michelle says:

oh wow, we are very envious!!!!!!!

  10. I’m going to have to search the webs for this now.

Did you pick up that other new PBS program in Chicago. That’s been played over and over since I got home.

  11. Good to know you liked it. Now I’m going to have to post about Yo Gabba Gabba on my site to get Nick to send me an advance copy, too. :) It seems like a crazy Japanese TV show meets hip-hop.

  12. My kids are all a-buzz over this show too. What gives?

  13. I’ve told you before that Zoe loves watching all the video clips on NickJr.com. The clips are driving me slightly crazy… I wish they would send me a full dvd!

  14. That’s awesome! I was kind of hoping it would be all throwback and shit. Now I have an excuse to dance all goofy in the living room. (I still did it before I just didn’t have an excuse.)
